What it does
Edit text in place
Change a word and the rest of the line reflows using the document’s own glyph positions, not a substitute font’s guess.
Annotate, sign and redact
Pen, highlighter, shapes, arrows, stamps, signatures, comments and redaction — exported as real vector marks, not flattened images.
Convert both ways
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML, Markdown and images into PDF; PDF back out to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG or PDF/A.
Recognise scanned text
OCR with a printed or handwriting mode, producing a searchable text layer over the original page image.
Real password protection
AES-256 via the PDF 2.0 security handler, done with the browser’s Web Crypto — not a flag readers can ignore.
Nothing leaves your device
Every PDF operation runs in the tab. No upload, no server, no account. Anonymous usage statistics are collected with Google Analytics; your documents never are.
Why a PDF editor that doesn’t upload matters
Most online PDF tools upload your file to a server you know nothing about, which is a poor trade for a contract, a passport scan or a payslip. This one reads the file into memory in your own browser and never transmits the document. Once the page has loaded you can even go offline and keep working.
Frequently asked questions
- Is this PDF editor really free?
- Yes. Opening, editing, signing, converting and saving PDFs is free, with no watermark and no account required.
- Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
- No. Every operation runs in your browser tab. The file is read from your disk into memory and is never sent anywhere.
- Is the password protection real encryption?
- Yes — AES-256 using the PDF 2.0 standard security handler, performed with your browser’s Web Crypto API. The file will not open in any reader without the password, and a lost password cannot be recovered.
- What are the file size limits?
- Documents up to 60 MB and 60 pages. Saving needs roughly two to three times the file size in memory, which is what sets the ceiling.
- Does it work on phones and Macs?
- Yes. It runs in any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox — on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. Nothing to install.
